11:11 pm - Memories!
|
Whilst unpacking some more things today, I came across my very first studio demo. All old Jazz music. I'm missing the first half of "Stormy Weather" though, which really rather bums me out... I hope mum has it backed up somewhere.

12:07 pm - Week 31
|
Baby shower is coming up on Sunday, and I received one of my gifts early. Another Maternity Shoot. :)
I'll be doing this one in August, and at home... so hopefully I'll be able to include some of the furry family. I would have loved to shoot with a Snake or two (illustrating fertility and the totem that has been so prevalent throughout this pregnancy), but I've been informed that the photographer is also an Ophidiophobe. Kind of bummed about that, but it is what it is.
Alot on my mind lately.
That's it.

6:11 pm - Pictures.
|
Because when you're having a terrible week, critters can cheer you up.
I was going through some photos that I had stored on here, and realized that it's been a year or so since I've shared any Sammy photos at all. I had a few from several months ago, but I figured I'd take a brand new bunch today after her little spritz-down. She makes me smile.

OH HAI, ( Come and see muh shower pics! )

What specifically can I plant in full shade (besides Hosta ssp)? Our new garden happens to be under several evergreens, thus inhibiting my plans for all sorts of pretty Lilies.

I had an amazing date-night with A yesterday evening. We went to see Dane Cook live at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
VERY funny.... but I'd venture to say that one of his opening acts had a better bit. His name was Robert Kelly, and he was a pretty entertaining dude.
Anyhow, on another note, the show rather reminded me of how utterly disrespectful people can be. There was a point in the performance where Dane was briefly talking about his mother, who had passed from Cancer a few years ago, and the girls behind me screamed:
"WE LOVE YOU DANE! TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES!!!"
These same girls, at the end of the night, decided to flash their breasts to the stage.
Uh... it's a comedy show, not a Jerry Springer episode, Sugarlips. I mean, boobies are all well and good, but there is a time and a place for these things.
Sadface: I forgot my camera, so I cannot share the awesomeness of the night.

Getting a blood-glucose screening today.
You do NOT withold food from a 7-months pregnant woman for 12 hours. It makes her cranky as hell.

1:12 pm - Saturday Blurb
|
We're finally painting the nursery tonight and will be moving another load of stuff from The Lagoon to the new dwelling. I spent a good portion of the day yesterday packing, and I still feel like I barely made a dent. :P It doesn't help that I've been exceptionally tired these last two days, which hasn't been remedied with grabbing extra sleep. The insomnia has let some somewhat, but I still haven't been finding the pillow until around midnight or so.
Mum comes back from Kentucky tomorrow. I'm pretty excited to talk to her, as it's been a week. Since becoming pregnant I don't think a day has gone by that we haven't spoken on the phone. It's been odd having her gone and out of reach.
:/

1:10 pm - Abnormally Attracted to Sin
|
AATS is Tori Amos' latest album, and I'm really enjoying it. She'll be in town in August, but I don't think I can afford to go to see her this tour. This makes me a sad, sad girly.
Anyhow, have the lyrics to one of my favorite tracks:
"Starling
Starling you were right I am the jealous kind whoever would have guessed Starling now I am shut out and confined even within my nest
what, what does it take to make it through another day if a feather lined with his words becomes a blade
Starling when he screams he screams in black and white just like the magpie shattered night then I woke not to a lonely lark but to a raven's cry
If a feather lined with his words becomes a blade then what, what will it take to make it through another day
so when they play, play the song sing along it may be your turn to shine if you know the lines hey what's that you say "You can find, find him online most of the time these days" "Is that right," I say.
you were right Starling "
Aside from the obvious bird-theme (which I tend to use in alot of my own original music) I love the instrumental here. It has a twittering birdsong quality to it that tickles my fancy. It's also a little Beatles-esque.
The entire album is heavily drenched in jazzy and big band undertones. I likes. Muchly.
Other stand-out tracks include: Give Lady in Blue Welcome to England Oscar's Theme Strong Black Vine
Yes. I love my Tori. <3

9:44 pm - I Am Mildly Annoyed...
|
...but I'll get over it.
I think it has something to do with carrying around a dirigible in my abdomen (HOW MUCH BIGGER CAN I POSSIBLY GET?!), having insomnia and being generally sore all over (mostly in my back). Also the stress of the impending move (hopefully this week or next), getting the nursery ready, and trying to get some personal affairs in order. All of this has to be more or less completed this month.
But then:
the jellybean had the hiccups today, and moments like that kind of put everything back into perspective.
current mood: thankful

Insomnia again.
Fidgety.
I hate over-thinking.
ETA: Also, being hungry ALL OF THE TIME doesn't work for me. It's almost 3 am and I could go for a sandwich.

I'm going to miss the Black-capped Chickadees "Yoo hoo"ing outside my window.
I'll miss the Downy Woodpecker rat-a-tatting on the trees in the yard.
I'll even miss the Starling barking like a dog on our roof...
... but I won't miss the Carpenter Ants.

12:47 pm - Bowen
|
Bo's annual appointment is coming up and I'm anticipating it with some trepidation. He's 9 years old, which is old for his breed (general life-expectancy of about 7-10 years for Danes), and while he seems to be in good health, every year that goes by I worry a bit more.

For those interested in keeping UTD on various crochet projects and commissions, I've opened a rough business blog here: sooty_plumage
It's pretty barren at the moment, but in time I should have some more examples up to share.
